Corona Extra and Corona Light Take Home Awards at the 45th Annual Effie Awards

Crown Imports continued its winning tradition at this year’s North American Effie Awards ceremony as two of the brands in its powerhouse portfolio, Corona Extra, the number one imported beer in the U.S. and Corona Light, the number one imported light beer in the U.S., were crowned as winners in the Beverage-Alcohol category.

Corona Extra took home the Gold for the “Find Your Beach”, which recognizes excellence in creative and effective advertising. Corona Extra evolved its successful “Find Your Beach” campaign last spring with television, digital and out-of-home advertising to strengthen the connection between the physical beach and the beach “state of mind” by depicting beaches in unexpected places—in a city bar, on an urban rooftop or on a snowy mountaintop.

Competing in the same category was Corona Light, which took home the Bronze for its “A Refreshing Change of Beer” campaign, which encouraged consumers to trade-up from their brown bottle domestic light routine to a Corona Light for a refreshing change of pace. The campaign consisted of two national TV spots and a customizable “Rut Buster!” Facebook application, which offered exciting, rut-busting alternatives for those caught in a monotonous routine.

“To be recognized for not one, but two Effie accolades, and to be the only beer brands represented within the Beverage-Alcohol category is a thrilling culmination to what was a fantastic 2012 for Corona Extra and Corona Light,” said Jim Sabia, chief marketing officer for Crown Imports. “The success of both brands can be largely attributed to forming strong, positive and emotional connections with our consumers.
