Constellation Brands Showcases New Route-to-Market for Mainland Europe at Prowein Exhibition

Company to introduce sales team, showcase brands, conduct tastings

LONDON, ENGLAND, FEB. 24, 2014– Constellation Brands, Inc. (NYSE: STZ and STZ.B), a leading beverage alcohol company, announced today that beginning March 1, it will offer its full portfolio of wine and spirits brands directly to customers throughout mainland Europe. Through CBI’s established International team, regional relationships and a solid infrastructure to support the brands, the revised route-to-market offers an opportunity for accelerated growth on the Continent.  The company will highlight its full portfolio of brands, discuss the new business structure and provide an opportunity to meet new team members in the region during the March 23-25 Prowein Exhibition in Dusseldorf, Germany.

During the Prowein Exhibition, CBI will have a stand at location F02 in Hall 1. Each day of the event, attendees can meet and speak with members of the sales team, winemakers and brand ambassadors, and taste a variety of brands including Robert Mondavi, Rex Goliath, Kim Crawford, Ruffino and Black Velvet Canadian Whisky.

Winemakers attending the event include Nova Cadamatre of the Robert Mondavi Winery and Erik Olsen, vice president and chief winemaker of Constellation Brands. Tom Maling, market development manager, will serve 2013 New Zealand Pinot Noirs and Master of Wine, Mark de Vere, will showcase Robert Mondavi Wines. Attendees can also enjoy a taste of Italy with Ruffino wines and sample Cinnamon Rush, the popular new flavor of Black Velvet Canadian Whisky. Rex Goliath, the 47 lb. rooster, will also make an appearance at the CBI stand to introduce his new California wines.

Overseas Constellation Team Members attending Prowein Exhibition March 23-25

Nova Cadamatre: Winemaker. Nova Cadamatre is one of three winemakers for Robert Mondavi Winery, assisting largely with the production of red wines, which include Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. She joined the team in 2013 and works alongside Director of Winemaking Genevieve Janssens. As one of the first graduates of Cornell’s Viticulture and Enology program in 2006, Nova relocated to California to assume a number of winemaking roles, including the launch of key sparkling wine programs. Most recently she has been working as luxury winemaker on Souverain and various other luxury brands. Originally from Greer, South Carolina, Cadamatre began her career in wine after moving to New York to pursue horticulture. Nova is a WSET Diploma Graduate and is currently studying for the Master of Wine.

Erik Olsen: Vice President, Chief WinemakerErik’s resolute focus on wine and winemaking is evident in his multi-disciplined dive into educating himself on the topic. With a Bachelor of Science in Fermentation Science from UC Davis, a Master of Science in Food Science from Cornell and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington, it is clearly Olsen’s aim to understand and master both the technical and business aspect of wine. In addition to his varied degrees, for over two decades – with time out for a graduate research position at Cornell – he made wine at some of the most prominent wineries in California and Washington, including Clos du Bois, Simi and Chateau Ste. Michelle. As Chief Winemaker, Erik is responsible for the development and implementation of quality and wine style goals to ensure winemaking processes support Constellation’s objectives to attain the highest quality of wine possible.

Mark de Vere: Director Wine Education. As Master of Wine, Mark presents fine wine educational programs to consumers and wine trade audiences around the world.  A native of Oxford, England, Mark began his early interest in wine while studying history at Oxford University. He was an officer of the University Wine Society and a member of the Oxford Wine Tasting team.  Graduating from Oxford with a growing interest in wine, Mark worked as an account manager for Oddbins, a dynamic UK retail and wholesale wine company specializing in an international selection of wines. During his three years with Oddbins, Mark gained considerable experience in all aspects of the wine trade and studied for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, successfully completing his certificate, higher certificate and diploma examinations. Following his stint with Oddbins, Mark became a manager for Windrush Wines, an independent merchant handling a range of select fine wines and foods from around the world. After leaving Windrush, Mark worked for a year in vineyards and wineries in five major regions of Australia and New Zealand. In 1994 Mark became a candidate for the Institute of Masters of Wine, recognized as the most prestigious international wine education organization in the world. In 1997, Mark successfully completed the four-day examination. He is one of only 30 Masters of Wine residing in the U.S. Mark lives in the Napa Valley and since 1997, has continued his adventures in wine with Robert Mondavi and the Constellation Academy of Wine, learning, training and educating. He is also North American Education Director for the Institute of Masters of Wine. He participates as a judge at wine competitions internationally.

Randy Dufour: Director, Travel Retail. What started as a part-time summer job in a top Vancouver restaurant, led Randy down the path that would become his hobby and his career.  After developing into one of Vancouver’s, and western Canada’s top sommeliers at several leading restaurants, including his own acclaimed, Dufour & Co, he was recruited by America’s number one wine importer, New York’s Banfi Vintners, to expand its international distribution of highly acclaimed Brunello di Montalcino.  It was here that Randy started to hone his skills and knowledge of the international wine business including serving as Banfi’s Export Director. After spending ten years in New York, Dufour returned to Canada, and joined Vincor International as National Director of Premium Wine. In 2006, Vincor was acquired by Constellation and became Director of Exports.  Known as “Mr. Icewine,” Dufour tirelessly promotes his beloved Canadian wines to surprised and enthusiastic consumers and wine aficionados globally.  Randy is the current Chair of the Canadian Wine Export Council and is on the Board of Directors of Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers. 

Tom Maling: Market Development Manager, Constellation Brands New Zealand. Tom is based in New Zealand and spends five months of the year travelling around the world, talking and occasionally writing about New Zealand wine. Tom spent seven years managing Constellation New Zealand’s business in Europe before devoting more time to helping the in-market sales teams in Asia, Europe and Latin America. Tom has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management, and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

Philip Kingston, General Manager and Senior Vice President, International. Philip’s career began initially as senior auditor for Ernst & Young for three years. He joined Constellation Brands in 1996 and during his tenure, he has held a number of leadership roles for businesses in the U.S. and New Zealand including business development and operations manager for the Nobilo Wine Group, chief financial officer of Pacific Wine Partners, senior vice president of Constellation Spirits, and senior vice president for Sales and Marketing for Constellation New Zealand. He was named general manager and senior vice president of the International business in March, 2013 after serving as senior vice president, Asia, where he established an office and team in Hong Kong to drive the company’s presence in the region. Today, Philip oversees the company’s business strategy for emerging and established markets globally. A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Kingston’s hands-on experience plays a key role for driving Constellation’s growth across untapped markets.
