Wherever Constellation Brands has a significant presence, it is our goal to be part of the community and contribute in ways that enrich the lives of people residing in those areas. Our philanthropic efforts are focused on three areas: health, education and arts and culture.
Health Care
Since the deadly earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010, Constellation has been collaborating with InterVol, an international humanitarian organization, Rochester General Hospital (RGH) in New York and other partners in health and education to assist with relief efforts. Constellation provided chartered jets to carry medical teams and supplies, and Constellation employees donated cases of food and toys, along with cash contributions, which were matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. To date, 8,000 pounds of medical supplies and ambulatory equipment have been transported to Haiti, and InterVol and its partners have performed 400 surgeries and have had more than 10,000 patient interactions.
Constellation also provides significant philanthropic support to a number of health organizations, including:
The American Cancer Society; F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, New York; Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada; Lodi Memorial Hospital in Lodi, California; Ride to Conquer Cancer in Canada; and Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York.
Education
Constellation targets its corporate giving for education in support of children with learning and developmental challenges, programs that help support wine and culinary education, science and business curriculums, and diversity in business and the community.
Constellation supports University of California, Davis’ active research and education programs in viticulture, enology and food science. The Robert Mondavi Institute (RMI) at UC Davis brings two departments – Viticulture and Enology, and Food Science and Technology – under one roof in a new, state-of-the-art facility. The RMI, which opened in late 2008, will unveil the Constellation Wine Cellar in the Teaching Resource Center in the fall of 2010.
Constellation also provides philanthropic support to a number of other educational organizations, including:
Brock University in Canada; Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, New York; Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection in Rochester, New York; Napa Valley Unified School District in Napa Valley, California; New York Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua; the Partnership for Equal Justice in Rochester; Public Advocates in California; EnCompass in Rochester; the Norman Howard School in Rochester; and The Oxbow School in California.
Arts and Culture
A major renovation of the Nazareth College Arts Center in Rochester, New York, was completed in 2009, creating the new performance home of the Rochester City Ballet. The multimillion-dollar renovation was made possible through a $2 million gift from Constellation.
Other Arts and Culture organizations benefiting from Constellation’s corporate giving include:
The Napa Valley Symphony in California; the Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center in Canandaigua, New York; Rochester City Ballet in Rochester, New York; and The Shaw Festival in Canada
